Dell Software & Peripherals Adds FalconStor’s IPStor To Its “A To Z” Software Solutions Portfolio

MELVILLE, N.Y., June 17, 2002—FalconStor Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: FALC), a leading provider of network storage infrastructure software, today announced that the Software & Peripherals unit of Dell Computer Corp. (Nasdaq: DELL) has expanded its “A to Z” software solutions portfolio to include the availability of FalconStor’s IPStor. Dell is now authorized in the U.S. to offer the IPStor software suite through its sales force and highly successful e-commerce site.

Enterprise customers can benefit from FalconStor’s award-winning IPStor-based solutions, which optimize enterprise application environments through a centralized and simplified storage management model featuring consolidation of heterogeneous storage, high availability of data, high-speed consolidation of tape backup and near-line disk-based backup, and policy-based disaster recovery functionality, all under one management interface. Dell Software & Peripherals can now resell IPStor to its targeted audience in small, medium and large businesses, and to those in the healthcare and education markets, as well as to federal, state and local government agencies.

"Dell's strong presence in the server market will provide new opportunities for FalconStor’s customers," said Wayne Lam, FalconStor vice president marketing. "That Dell, a global market share leader in enterprise-class computing solutions, is now going to carry FalconStor’s flagship product, highlights the widespread demand for centralized virtualized storage solutions. More importantly, it makes the purchase and management of SAN even easier for these organizations."

Both Dell and FalconStor are committed to high-end storage products based on Fibre Channel, which supports high-speed data transfer rates and more features for data availability. The companies will leverage Dell's business model and industry expertise to bring FalconStor’s leading software infrastructure technology to the growing market for SAN and NAS.

IPStor, a storage networking software infrastructure, enables corporate IT to contain storage management costs and increase storage efficiency by aggregating and provisioning storage resources and services over the network with high performance, security, scalability and availability. The IPStor server runs on off-the-shelf hardware under Linux or Solaris. It supports industry standard protocols such as SCSI, IP, iSCSI, Fibre Channel and SNMP to facilitate rapid deployment and seamless integration with the existing storage equipment and third party management software throughout the enterprise. As the result of its hardware-agnostic architecture, vendor-independent storage services and industrial performance, IPStor has been embraced by major system, storage and appliance vendors and system integrators throughout the world.
